Aerodynamics

The Jefferson Jyrodyne has multiple lifting surfaces:

  1. A canard at the front of the aircraft
  2. A lower biplane wing with flaps
  3. An upper biplane wing with ailerons
  4. A full span elevator, divided into three sections
  5. During VTOL operations, positive lift from the front quadrant of the bellmouth shroud
  6. During transition operations, positive lift from the front quadrant of the bellmouth shroud, and no lift from the inboard sections of the upper biplane wing

The combined effect of all of these lifting surfaces provides unprecedented aerodynamic control to the pilot.
